The Vampire bat looks sort of like a pig with fangs and large pointy ears. The Vampire bat is about 3 inches long and has a wingspan of about 8 inches. It weighs about 1 ounce. It has strong legs. The Vampire bat has a clawed thumb that comes out of the front edge of the wing.

Its coat is dark gray-brown. Its mouth has two pointy front teeth. It walks by lifting itself up on its hind legs and wrists. A thumb claw sticks out from the front of its wings. It uses this for climbing around on its prey.

Small mammals vampire bats have very strong hind legs and a special thumb that helps them take off after feeding. They can walk, run, and jump. Heat sensors on their noses help them find a good spot on an animal’s body to feed.

The Vampire bat has two incisors. Incisors are two sharp and pointy teeth. It also has special saliva which contain an anticoagulant called draculin that runs down grooves in the tongue to stop the blood from clotting. They drink the blood of other animals for survival. They feed on blood from cows, pigs, horses, and birds as their prey. Though uncommon, vampire bats even occasionally bite humans for blood. Vampire bats make a small cut with their teeth and then lap up the flowing blood with their tongues. If they can’t find blood for two nights in a row, they will die. Well-fed bats will often regurgitate blood to share with others.

Its predators are eagles and hawks. Farmers are killing them because they carry rabies and other diseases, which affect both humans and cattle, but they're not endangered. ♥

They live in Mexico, Central and South America. During the day, like most bat species, the colonies of vampire bats live in caves. They are nocturnal and feed solely on blood of sleeping cattle and horses, although there are recorded incidents of them feeding on sleeping humans too, but that is far less common. They do not take enough blood to harm the host, and they secrete an anticoagulant in their saliva to help keep the blood from clotting from the bite of their razor-sharp fangs. They are not necessarily in the rainforest, although they do like tropical climates. They are predators of a sort, but they do not kill the host. They are actually more like parasites that don't do harm to the host. They are like huge mosquitoes in that sense, I guess. They need the blood of the host to live, but they don't take enough to weaken or kill. Most cattle and horses sleep right through the 'feeding'. However, in the scheme of things, it is figured that a colony of 100 vampire bats can drink the equivalent of the blood of 20 cows in a year. Nice little guys, right? Bats actually do provide services such as fertilizing of plants and the eating of annoying insects, but this is the only parasitic species of bat.

They look like a typical bat. Nothing special about their looks, that I can think of.

I know they feed on cows, but I'm not sure what else.
