9q + 10 = 118
9q = 118- 10
9q = 108 (divide by 9)
q = 12
6w - 125 = 1
6w = 1 + 125
6w = 126 (divide by 6)
w = 21

Cool. I love algebra.
9q+10=118&6w-125=1
first, we'll take 9q+10=118
this is an equation, so whatever you do to the left hand side, u have to do to the right hand side to make sure it's equal. we're trying to find q so what we're really trying to do is get q by itself.
if 9q+10=118,then 9q=118-10
what i really did was 9q+10-10=118-10 which would be 9q+0=118-10
so 9q=118-10
9q=108
now we have q by itself, but 9 is still there, so we need to get rid of it. bear in mind that 9q is really 9*q (sorry, that's nine times q).
remember how we subtracted ten from 9q+10 to get rid of the ten? that worked because the opposite operation of addition is multiplication. the opposite operation of multiplication is division, so to get the nine away from the q, we need to divide.
9q divided by nine=q.
(u can check this by doing 2 times four divided by two)
since we divided by nine on the left side, we need to divide by nine on the right side too so that it balances.
9q divided by nine=118 divided by nine
q=108 divided by nine
so q=12.
6w-125=1
do the same thing we did for the first equation.
6w-125 +125 =1+125
6w=126
6w divided by 6 = 126 didivded by 6
w=21
so q =12, w=21
hope i helped :)

9q+10=118
-10 -10
9 times q = 108
9 divided by q= 108 divided by 9
q= qoutient of the above
6w-125=1
+125 =125
6w= 126
divided 6= 126 divided by 6
w= qoutient of the above
(this is the way i learned it and it is easy)

The question isnt very clear but if you are doing two seperate questions and What is q and what is w then this is how. You have to get the variables by them selves. You must do an operation to both sides to do this. so for 9q+10=118 you subtract 10 from both sides leaving 9q = 108 then divide both sides by 9 leaving q = 12. Same thing for other one add 125 to both sides then divide both sides by 6.

9Q + 10 = 118
9Q = 118 - 10
9Q = 108
Q = 108/9
Q = 12
6W - 125 = 1
6W = 1 + 125
6W = 126
W = 126/6
W = 21
Math never goes away in life. Nor does it change. Do yourself a favor and learn it. Hope it helps...
