As stated by your other posts, the proportion of your own income that is taxed depends on your tax bracket, but it averages out at 37.2% of our GDP (2).
This is more than most of the right wing European countries (as shouted by the daily mail), but about the same as the US and Australia, and less than the Nordic countries.
Perversely, because council tax is not means testes (it’s the same for all incomes, though it does change for different house prices), it is actually people on the lowest tax bracket that give the greatest proportion of their incomes to the government.

Far too much as far as I"m concerned, but obviously not enough for Gordon, that's why he has introduced over 30 new stealth taxes whilst he"s been Chancellor.

Depends on what tax bracket you fall in which is determined by your income. The more you make, the more gets withheld.
