AL-qaeda is always attacking America and most of the western world some are physical attacks but it is mostly psychological attacks (fear) and also 'corrupting' some of the youth to join, go against the government, and if you have ever noticed people are saying how the government is terrible (more than usual) because they are arresting Arabs etc but if it was a physical attack it could be a dirty bomb they are easy enough to do if you understand how to do it.

What Type Think about London, Madrid, Cities in Europe and Asia and the Middle East, they Blown Up Buses, Trains, and Corporate Offices.
One Day New York, Washington, and Los Angeles will be Attacked Again by a Pipe-bomb.

No Al Qaeda can;t attack everywhere outdoors Afghanistan. The assaults in U.S. have been the plot of CIA to get an excuse to have conflict with Muslims and invade the Muslims international locations to scouse borrow oil.

They have plotted and tried. It is no coincidence that there have been no attacks on American soil. The government, led by Bush, have gone after terrorists and it is working.
If they could get a nuclear weapon, they would use it. NYC or DC
