If so what is it like? Benefits/disadvantages....etc? I have a job offer on the table but I'm wary of accepting before I get further information.

If you are talking about bill collecting....yes. I got a job 15 years ago doing commercial collections for a long distance phone company. Probably the best move for me at the time.

I learned a lot and kept learning and getting promoted, and eventually got better jobs. I am a credit analyst now. It all started from collections.

I have no college degree and I make more $$ than my husband or my brother.

I would definately try to stick with commercial versus consumer collections. (calling people for medical bills and things like that is very hard and not very enjoyable).

It can be a good job because the excitement and the clear results of your efforts you can negotiate a variable for collecting and because some of those delinquent notes are almost lost the employer will be very happy for sharing if you recover. Of course a collector for the Famiglia can be too exciting.
