I need help... I dont understnad the electromagnetic spectrum and how color works.. HELP!

Lights are made up waves. Lights have electric field and magnetic field that's why they are called electromagnetic wave. This magnetic field and electric field vibrate across the direction wave is traveling finally like any other wave they can be reflected, refracted or absorbed. Different color lights have different wave length for e.x . red light has longer wave and than violet light. Infrared light has longer wave length than red light and ultraviolet has shorter wave length than visible light. X-rays and gamma rays have even shorter wave length than UV light. Microwave and radio-wave have much longer wave length than infrared light. The wave length and frequency affect the behavior and how it can be used.

If you divide the speed of light by the frequency of a wave you will get the wave length. The important point to remember is the higher the frequency the shorter the wave is and conversely the lower the frequency the longer the wave length is.

The electromagnetic spectrum is the range of all possible electromagnetic radiation. Also, the "electromagnetic spectrum" (usually just spectrum) of an object is the range of electromagnetic radiation that it emits, reflects, or transmits. The electromagnetic spectrum shown in charts usually extends from just below the frequencies used for modern radio (at the long-wavelength end) to gamma radiation (at the short-wavelength end), covering wavelengths from thousands of kilometres down to fractions of the size of an atom

Above infrared in frequency comes visible light(about from 400nm to 800 nm). This is the range in which the sun and stars similar to it emit most of their radiation. It is probably not a coincidence that the human eye is sensitive to the wavelengths that the sun emits most strongly. Visible light (and near-infrared light) is typically absorbed and emitted by electrons in molecules and atoms that move from one energy level to another. The light we see with our eyes is really a very small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. A rainbow shows the optical (visible) part of the electromagnetic spectrum; infrared (if you could see it) would be located just beyond the red side of the rainbow with ultraviolet appearing just beyond the violet end.

You eye has four different types of cells. Three of them react only to one color light. Red, green or blue. You see colors by how much of each type of light hits those cells. (also called cones).
The other type of cell, called rods, are more sensitive and react to all colors of light. They only see black and white. The rods are how you see in dim light, which is why things look grayer then.
One fun note: The chromosome for the red cone is the X chromosome, which women have two of. Since some of the cones in women's eyes use the gene from one of their X chromosomes, and some cones use the gene from the other one, and the genes are a little different from each other, women red differently from guys. It could explain part of the difference in decorating taste. Women aren't seeing exactly the same colors when they look at something as men. That, and the fact that real men are tasteless slobs.
