I am writing a character analysis on George Wilson from The Great Gatsby and the paper has to include 3 body paragraphs. The main topic of each of my three paragraphs are going to be:

1. George's struggle to make a living
2. His relationship with Myrtle, and...
3. His death

So I have those three ideas for each body paragraph, but I have no clue where to go from there...how much/ WHAT am I supposed to write under each of those 3 ideas? If anyone knows of the format I'm supposed to use or what I'm supposed to put (are those bad categories?), I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much everyone!

This sounds like a standard 5 paragraph essay to me.

You'll want to start with an introduction paragraph which will include the book title and author, basically a list of the topics you are going to talk about, and some point you are trying to get across to the reader of your paper.

After this you will have your three body paragraphs. In each, you should include at least three examples from the book (not quotes, examples) that support that point you are trying to get across (as mentioned earlier) that also relate to the topic of that particular body paragraph. Try to draw conclusions at the ends of each paragraph using the examples you pulled up.

Finally you should have a conclusion. In this you will restate your list of the three body paragraphs and then you will write a more in depth analysis of the point you are trying to get across given the information you wrote about about.

I hope all that helps you... Best of Luck.

Well for one thing i just want to point out that you've used a lot of fancy words...unawareness, dilemma, submission and so on. I have read amazing essays/papers and the use of those types of words that often make the paper boring. I have read stronger essays that have used small words. This part doesn't make sence "Tom and letting advantage of his life" is that suppoesed to say 'taking advantage'? Who's Tom? Who's Myrtle and what is his relationship with her and what about his death? -- Try to answer those questions. Got to remember to write a paper like you are telling someone who has not read this book or seen the movie or whatever you happen to be writing about. You have an awkward sentence: "His unawareness is that he does not realize his wife is committing adultery, and his submission is in being patient with Tom and letting advantage of his life." What I mean by awkward is that is doesn't really flow. It calls upon more questions than answers. It should probably be worded somewhat differently. I hope I have helped you. Good luck. P.S. I forgot about the thesis. The thesis should be your LAST sentence in the intro paragraph. It should state what your point of the essay is. If you were writing about the Three Little Pigs, it could say something like: "In the end the wolf could not beat the three little pigs and reach his goal of blowing over the house." Then you would continue into how he couldn't do it and so on...

I have honestly never read the book so I can't help you with specifics, but in a general sense, stick with threes. Include three examples of his struggles at a living, three prominent instances that you feel define his relationship w/ Myrtle, and three conclusions that are exemplified by his death.

you should start the report by saying when he was born and his young life if his family was well off or struggled to stay alive. then like how he struggles to make a living and what he did for a living and his marraige, what his family was like and then his death and what difference he made.

Each paragraph should be 5-7 sentances it would also be nice if you had a title page. and a bibliography page.
good luck.
