i am working on my thesis in human behavior.people have so many quirks, and each person is unique, but why would you ruin your day getting so upset over such trival stuff? no parking, a long check out line, etc, maybe upset, but not rage, it has to be more than a bad day, they just seem to looking for someone to bear the brunt of their anger, alot of times an inocent, someone to lash out, is it control? an unhappy childhood, its like someone owes them something. and what you do will not make up for their "being inconvenienced" help me see and understand what makes them "tick".

Everybody copes with things differently. And there are some people who can't handle the least little thing being out of place while others can be in a very stressful situation and handle it just fine. I think that some of the things you mentioned such as control, etc. play a part in this as well. Some people are hard to understand though. Idon't think we can understand everyone and their behavior at all times.

Because those teeny tiny things should be the way they're supposed to be. You have so much crap to deal with, can't someone do a tiny thing like make sure there's toilet paper left when they leave the bathroom? It's not hard to do, why be so inconsiderate?
The big things you have to plug at and plow through, You know this. You work at this. You put every last drop of energy into these. The little things, don't bother me wtih that crap just get it right will ya??
I'm not saying this thinking is right, I'm telling you that's the way some of us think. It used to drive me right nuts. Because it was some easy thing another person could have dealt with and not thrown it in my lap. And there is nothing you want more than to let it slide. Too much pressure, too much stress. I took up meditation and cleared the crap from my life.

What people don't realise is that it "feels good" to get that adrenaline rush and even though they may be sensible about consumption of alcohol for example they cannot resist but to get into a dither over some trivial matter so that they can feel that rush and have the satisfaction of "righteous indignation" that comes from pointing out where something is wrong, even if it's a very minor defect of someone elses character or something in their environment. Combine that with the tendency of people to want to build up their own egos at the expense of others and you have all the makings for a 1st class tantrum!

I agree, it is not worth it to waste energy over minor things that don't go as you want them to. I want to tell you though that I was married to a man who was flying into rages and it was very scary for me and I was threatened more than once. I divorced and found out that some years later he was taking medicine for bi-polar disorder. While married I thought he had an anger problem and I was a target available whom he could vent his anger and it was making me sick. So, perhaps in some cases, something is out of balance in people's brains and causes them to react by flying into rages. He did have some hurts from his childhood and his relationship with his father seemed to be a poor one so that could have been a catalyst that caused emotional disturbance that led to the imbalance. I couldn't live with someone like that so I got out.

because there is so many other things on their mind and they don't vent or let it out and it all builds up and then something as simple as no papertowels and they loose it.
I didnt have the happiest of childhoods but I don;t believe anyone owes me anything or fell that I have to take it out on others.
I think people are just wired differntly and what is no big deal to some of us truly seems like the ends of the world to others, same reason why life is hard for all of us and has obsticles, but some people feel they cant take it and therefore commit suicide to escape it, but then others of us just take it in stride

Well, I can't give you an absolute answer for that, but my mom is a perfect example for what you described. She has bipolar disorder and manic depression. She also gets uncontrollably angry or depressed over minor things, for example, she ran out of soda yesterday night and you would have thought she was starting world war 3. This is a pretty common thing for her, but I've read that people with bipolar disorder have severe mood swings like that. Maybe that is one aspect of what you're talking about... hope I helped a little and good luck with your paper.

2 things

1. Their genetics

2. Their environment
People with poor impulse control have not learned better coping skills. Our biggest teachers are our parents. That is one reason I am not nuts about spanking children (that is another discussion).

There are so causes that many textbooks have been written just on this subject. No one has many answers yet. Personally I think Prozac should put put in drinking water.

I personally don't think it's the paper towels, etc. causing their rage. I think it's just "the straw that broke the camels back", so to speak. Some people just let things build up inside them and then, all of a sudden (or so it seems to everyone), they blow.

it's the frustration and weariness gathering together over the course of a day and making a bomb. other times, it's a control issue, a slight OCD that everyone has from being spoiled when they were kids, they want things a certain way, and that's just not happening.
