I think this name is very near to Arabic name(Bakr).I have seen a tv movie(if this expression is right)for an Egyptian lawyer living in US,they(in the US) called him(baker)instead of his Arabic name(bakr).

Baker: Last name was invented when a person was such a good cook they named him baker the long line went on and on until many other Bakers popped up such as Baker university and many others. Finally my Grand(ma or pa, whoever started out with baker,)was born into this line and they had (ma or dad whover was first named baker) my parent/gaurdian and they had me.

Go to your local library and ask for help from the Reference section in the library. The people there can help you.
