it will, but if you want the bass to sound good then a get pedal especially made for the bass.

Any distortion pedal works fine for bass guitar. Plug it in and hit it !!

They make ones for bass but any will work, Watch your levels when kicking it in, I use some of the effects for bass with a Digitech RP300 and it works fine.
