I'm an atheist raised in a catholic family, which means I always had to be able to back up my beliefs (or rather, non-beliefs). My sister's favorite question was always "well, if there is no God, the who was Jesus?" I maintain that Jesus was a great philosopher, and that people saw what they wanted to see. The New Testament is but an exaggerated storybook telling of Jesus' actions.

Is it possible that for the last 2006 years, even though mankind has had every opportunity to invalidate Christ, no one has ever been able to do so. Every one of his disciples died a horrific death to defend their faith. There is not one account of any of them denying him after his resurrection and the release of The Holy Spirit as described in the book of Acts. They were eyewitnesses of all he did. There were no smoking mirrors!

Sure it could be possible. Some people don't believe the son of God has even been born yet.
