Customer Sitisfaction is about how your customer feels after his experience dealing with you or your company. Was it satisfactory service? Was the problem resolved? Was the representative professional and courteous? Would I use this service again?

Customer Service is a job in itself - answering phone issues by telephone, computer, or in person - usually dealing with questions or problems that come up. A customer service representative would be trained to know the product well, and would have skills in soothing upset customers and helping them to feel like they are the most special person in the world while you help them find the best answer or solution to their problem. A great customer service rep isn't afraid to say "I don't know, but let me research that for you and I will call you right back!"

Customer satisfaction is a term that retail organizations use to gain trust with their client-base. The idea is usually based on the principle that if a customer is not satisfied with their purchase, they can return the product and get their money back.

The idea of "satisfaction or your money back" is constantly changing to fit the needs of both the customers and retailers. It used to be that "satisfaction" meant you were happy with your product. Now it means that the product performs according to manufacture's specifications and that you are placing reasonable expectations on the product. These days, there are also reasonable time frames that retailers put on the returns.

These restrictions were put in place to protect the integrity of such a promise while protecting the companies from needless, costly returns. Retailers are constantly bombarded with people who are trying to take advantage of the clause, "satisfaction guaranteed".

My advice:
If you aren't happy, don't wait to tell someone. The longer you wait, the less likely you are to get your money back. Instead of yelling at the kid fresh out of highschool, try being nice. If you can't get anywhere, politely ask to speak with a manager. Try and make it seem like making an exception for you is a good way to earn or keep your business. Don't make demands; offer suggestions.

Customer Satisfaction: A consumer-driven measure of a company's ability to fulfill the business, emotional, and psychological needs of its customers relative to the expectations of that customer.

Customer Service is the safety net put in place to handle required company interactions or those times when performance does not meet expectations.

Some say Customer Satisfaction is not valuable until it turns into Customer Loyalty.

This isn't a good time for me to answer this question. I just got back from Wal Mart! There is NO customer service there. :(
