PAs and nurses take the same clases for most part. Look at the answer I gave you here http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlFwU_RMfYb87gL5At4dy4Hsy6IX?qid=1006050122274

If you want to do med school after a PA program (which is either certificate or graduate level program, IIRC), you will run into the same problems as you would if you wanted to go nursing to med. You will have to retake a LOT of coursework (that i have listed for you in the old answer).

Really, if you wanna go to med school, focus on that. I wouldn't recommend doing ANY clinical allied health studies if you want to really be pre-med. If you wanna be a nurse, be a nurse. If you wanna be a PA, be a PA. But don't use either of those as a jumping-off point into medical school. Sure, med schools might like your clinical experience, but you will waste a lot of YEARS and a lot of MONEY in the process.

If you want my honest opinion, go into a PA program and have a stellar career as a phys. assistant. We need PA's to handle primary care. PAs get paid well. PA programs are rigorous, but doable with far less expense.

MD and DO programs are extremely competitive, and it takes at least 7 years post baccalaureate before you really practice. The MCAT is not a test anyone would ever want to take for fun (it is an EIGHT hour exam and it costs $200 just to register). Plus, you can expect to be $200k in debt upon graduation. It is not for the faint of heart or mind.
