St. Johns Wort during the daytime is good for depression. Caution: When taken internall in large amounts, can lead to heightened sun sensitivity, especially in fair-skinned people. Also interferes with the absorption of iron and other minerals. Take as directed on the bottle. If the recommended amount is not sufficient increase by 1 tab until you feel you are taking the amount that will helps you.

Melatonin - only to be taken at night - ONLY 1 tab 1 hour before bedtime. Melatonin supplements the bodys natural production of melatonin which is only produced in the evening time.

St John's Wort is not the sort of herbal remedy recommended for using with anything else. It is supposed to stand alone, as a treatment to lift moods. If you need to take something else as well, its not working, you should stop taking it, and find something that does work for you. If the Wort was working, you would no longer be depressed and therefore wouldn't need the sleeping pills.

Melatonin is not a safe drug to use without being under strict medical supervision. The BMA has not yet decided wether melatonin has been studied enough under strict lab conditions. It has been tested by astronauts and people crossing several timelines and to combat jet lag. But as yet there is no sure answer to its side effects or likliehood of addiction.
