Why wash your hands with bleach? and was 1:30 the time he killed the boy in the hit and run accident?

Bleach - his mental state is unravelling and he's becoming obsessive-compulsive, hence the heavy handwashing.
It could also be related to the guilt he feels over the boy's death - he's "washing the blood off his hands" a la Lady Macbeth.

He wanted to be almost pure and kind of have the bleach wash away the bad things he did.And im pretty sure it was 1:30 that he killed the boy.

hmm interesting i watched this just last weekend and im not sure.i guess you may right. Only thing i an suggest is you watch the dvd version with the directors commentary cos the chances are he's explaining every nuance throughout the film.

This is one of my fav films of all time...Fargo is another...a film you can watch time & time again & still see stuff you never saw before...you can place your own interpretation on films thats the good bit....but wouldnt you wash your hands with bleach to try & get rid of any stains...real or imagined????.....did he win an Oscar for this????...

psycholically- he thought he could kill the germs/blood stains off his hands because he knew he'd killed someone- i don't know about the 1.30 time thing. You may be right. I thought that that was just the time he started getting the nightmares on a regular basis.
