my ideas:
--fake vampire teeth/fangs (#1 important, find these and you can do whatever you want with your makeup and still be convincing, they sell very cheap plastic ones at any haloween store)
--get a dark eye shadow and use a lot of it above your eyes, more than you would for normal makeup
--try a thin line of the dark eye shadow or use some dark eyeliner under your eyes
--choose a very dark maroon or burgundy lipstick (probably something with more of a red or berry undertone not brown or earthtone, but you could also go the other route and make your lips appear like they aren't red and lifelike at all by covering them with concealer or actually use black lipstip)
--if you want a more glamorous vampire look, add some highlights on your cheeks and just under your eyebrows with some metallic tone makeup (but not like a blush that would be too "alive" looking and not very vampirey)
--if you want a paler look, experiment with a powder (either loose or pressed foundation works) that isn't pure "clown makeup" white but is meant for someone with a much lighter complexion than yours use it on all your face or just blend it into some areas like your forehead
--for clothes--go with black or other very dark colors (like a very dark purple might be cool), something long and flowy might be interesting, or if you want a more contemporary look just pick out the most appropriate pieces from your own wardrobe
--the hair completely depends on what cut and type of style you currently have, but since it's a costume have fun with it, wear your hair differently than you would any other day, otherwise, there's always the option of getting a very long dark (or i suppose you could be a blonde vampire too if you really wanted) wig from the mall or costume place
***honestly, i've never dressed up as a vampire for halloween, but i love coming up with costumes and these are my ideas about how you might go about doing it.

Well, you could do the Anne Rice's vampire kinda thing. In her book, Queen of the Damned, she described a vampire that had been a man of darker complexion before being turned to a vampire as "gold" rather than the typical pale vampire, which is how they made up Aaliyah to play Akasha in the movie.

Have you seen the movie, Queen of the Damned. It starred Aleijah as the main Vampire. She wasn't painted white. You should check out her makeup style and go from there.
Here's the link to the movie. Hope it helps...

You would look even scarier with white make-up as a vampire, but there have been lots of movies and TV shows with black vampires (Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel come to mind). Go with what ever you feel is best.

Don't worry, you could simply wear makeup a few shades lighter than your regular makeup. Put on a long wig of black hair ( or your hair in a french braid, like in the 1900's) and wear your vampire makeup. Don't forget the pointy teeth and the fake blood on one side of your mouth. If you don't like the last suggestion, wear Yellow, gray or red contacts to make the look scarier. If you want to look like a sexy vampire, just accentuate the lips and eyes with strong, dark colors in a sexy way.

Im being a fairy devil vampire for this halloween.. But you could still have the teeth (I got mine at wal-mart for 1.96. they just stick in. they arent the huge plastic, uncomfortable ones.) Bought a red ripped up dress with corset on top. I have red glitter horns with a red vail. Painting my nails black with red glitter french tips... i have black spider gloves (go up to my elbow) i might wear. I have fishnet stockings with knee high lace up boots. Very goth.. BUT MY BEST IDEA YET!! It doesn't sound like much but it's HOTT PHAT and AWESOME CREATIVE - buy a cheap pitch fork (Wal-mart), spray craft adhesive and red glitter. tape off the black handle. spray your pitch fork in short sweeps and apply glitter THICK. Cover it ALL. I had to do about 3 "layers" to get it all coverd... Do this outside or on cardboard. It gets VERY sticky and stays like that on anything it gets unless it comes in contact with something.. Anyways. it looks hot. you will look hot.. Good Luck! :0[

well yu cannot paint your face white, but a deceased person of african orrigin would be gray as an undead if you want yo get technical. but you do not have to have a white face to be an undead. keep your natural color, add fangs and some red contacts and you are scarry enough.

Buy a cheap liquid foundation in the palest shade you can find. It won't make you look white but it will wash you out. You just need to be very washed out for the look to work.

What you could do is put dark shadowing under your eyes and cheekbones to give you a sunken dead look. Use red around your eyes for that supernatural glow of the undead.
