my p.c dosent recognise my cd rom, all wires are correct also, any idea's?

You probally just need to change the 'jumper' setting on the back of the cd-rom. It depends on how many are in your computer. Usually the 3 jumper choices are Master, Slave and Cable Select. Usually Cable Select will work fine. Sometimes you must set it for Master or Slave though. On MOST, but not all, drives you put the 'pin' on the LEFT side for Cable Select, the MIDDLE for Master & the RIGHT for Slave. Also, you'll notice a 'stripe' going down one side of the ribbon-cable. Make sure the stripe is on the left side of the plug on BOTH ends. good luck :-)
