I'm not even talking about made up words like "fo shizzle."

So many black people say "be-room" instead of "bedroom." They so "fo sho" instead of "for sure." Etc.

Also, why do they have that accent that so many do?

Another example - "Oh no she di-n't" instead of "Oh no she didn't."

Yes l am sure only black people have a crazy accent. When l hear white people from Maine speak with words that is like caa instead of car and har instead of hard and fin to instead of fixing to. Have you ever heard white people from down south? l can't even understand them and white people from Texas speak a whole different language. So why don't you stop trying to use your racist self fulfilling prophecy because you switched the channel on your TV and happened to see a rapper do an interview on BET.

Why have people from the deep south done the same thing? I can't understand half of them.
Then there's the New England accent -- that's a toughie, too.
Oh, and don't forget about Bush, he makes up his own language as he goes along.

:)

First, not *all* black people talk that way. Second, if they do, so what? There are tons of regional differences, dialects, etc. in every country no matter what the "prime" language is. You should try going to England -- you'd probably have little trouble in London, though many usages would be unusual to you, but try the Newcastle dialect, or Liverpool -- almost their own languages.
Perfectly normal. Languages are living things, and are constantly changing.

Dialects are primarily based on the culture in which one is raised. For instance, some people in Texas have a heavy southern drawl and uses words and phrases that are vastly different from people who live in Boston. Blacks in the south will sound different from blacks in the north. It is regional and cultural and to some extent many groups of people in the U.S. butcher the English language.

Lemme guess, your nick is "I'm all that's left of what was once a man", ain't it?

looks like you've no job and a lot of time to waste trying to provoke people here.

what a sad life you have.

PS

Oh, by the way, my good fellow, I'm colored and I've 4 Phds. A couple from England. I do suppose that my accent would be rather "educated", don't you think?

Perhaps it would interest you to know that the "black" people have been doing quite well since the days of the fiction "Uncle Tom's Cabin".

Sorry, this does not describe black people as a whole...probably ghetto, gangsta wannabe, uneducated that sort of thing. It also describes how others talk who want to be like them, to fit in or whatever. I'm white, my boyfriend is black, but we are both educated enough and that's just not how we were raised. However, I've noticed that many women who do date black men have picked up the ghetto slang which sounds even more ridiculous coming from them.

It is formerly AAVE (African American Vernacular English). I don't think that they are uneducated or just trying to be funny. They do not feel the need to refine their communication and language skills because they may want to keep this as a unique characteristic to their race.

It's not only black people who speak differently. Different ways of pronouncing the the English language is cultural or regional. My husband is from Minnesota and his way of speaking is vastly different than mine. I'm from West Texas and we put more vowels in words than they are spelled with. Two of my daughters are adopted from China, and they have a hugely different way of speaking even though they have grown up in the US. The black culture has a sing-song sort of rhythmic quality to it. I'm sure this didn't evolve out of a malicious evil plan to distort the English language, or to upset you. Regional lingo is normal in ANY culture. Revel in our diversity.

That may be partly because of their culture and just how they have always said things (although I really wouldn't know for sure), or maybe it's just evolved into their everday language for them. Maybe it's the way they identify themselves. I don't know, but I've noticed it too. The accent is pretty cool too. I suppose it's just like any other accent, like British, Australian or whatever. You grow up hearing it from your parents, and that's just the way you learn how to talk.

You are right...I don't know why...maybe it has something to do with a general lack of IQ... because you can find Asians, Whites and Hispanics that speak that way also...You don't see Tiger Woods talking like that...Anyone listened to "Earth Wind and Fire"? Now that is MUSIC! Do you here any lack of annunciation? NOT IN A MILLION YEARS!
Even though it is perpetuated by the no-talent rap fad that has been over running television. I think anyone who is dumb, easily swayed, and too slow to try and enunciate, probably think its cool to wear your cap backwards also! Now can anyone tell me why is that?

All I say is it goes with the IQ!!!even if you have no education, but you at least had a brain...you could figure out you look like an idiot when you talk in such moronic dialects, just to try and FEEL COOL! LMAO

This Rapper-Wannabe stuff has to GO!!!
