The brake lights work fine during the day, but when we have to turn on the headlights, they no longer work. Any suggestions?

Yes,
You have lost the Grounds to the Tail light assemblies. Common problem. It is inside the Assemblies.
You can try buying the new twist in sockets from the dealer for the tail lights, but you may have to buy the complete assemblies.
I have seen it many times

I know this has nothing to do with your question, but to answer the comment you made on mine, yes I'm dealing with Combos and Permutations. I couldn't edit the question for some reason so I posted here.
