Without question it is a penalty shootout in football (soccer to the unenlightened). Unfortuntley being English we always lose these.

That or a knockout in a heavyweight boxing fight.

However the Ashes series (cricket) between England and Australia last year was by far and away the most intriuging sporting contest i've ever seen and each match was played over 5 days but was so closley fought that each of the test matches (5 in all) went down to the last hour and in one case the last ball. Amazing.

The last two minutes in basketball and a come from behind (what I call a cliff hanger) win in football.
Texas's win over Nebraska this past Saturday was a thrilling finish. Sorry Nebraska fans.

Finish of a point or finish of a game?

I play ultimate frisbee, and a really cool way to finish a point is called 'laying out'. To score in ultimate you have to catch the frisbee when you're in the endzone. If the frisbee touches the ground before you catch it, it's not a score. You therefore often get people diving for catches (this is called 'laying out'). A layout score looks absolutely awesome! (I had a quick look and found one on youtube: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Fekd7cqtMEw )

Its all about the finish , the best way in my opinion is to withdraw at the peak point and then without hesitation smash it straight up her @rse.
