It's a really individualistic thing. It's your dad, so he probalby knows you're not trying to be offensive. If you just walk up to a gay couple on the street and start asking questions though, that's obviously inappropriate. I'd suggest a sit-down with him. And remember that his experience doesn't necessarily generalize to other gay people; his answers are only HIS answers.

If he is your dad then he should understand why you have questions. If I had a child I wouldn't get mad at them for asking questions. Start off like this "I have some questions, and I want to know if you will answer them?"

His reaction should tell you what questions to ask.
I wouldn't ask about sex. I wouldn't go there that may not be something he is willing to discuss with you just try to get an understanding of who your father is and Love him anyway.

Nobody will get mad if you are asking sincere and appropriate questions to get to know the person better.

Maybe its the way you ask the questions. No one likes to be disrespected. I'll bet your dad would like you to ask him questions, and that's a good way to get closer to him. I think you should tell him you are afraid to talk to him because you are worried he will get angry and then see what happens.

Good luck.

They all feel as if we are judging them. Actually we are not judging them, its just what the christians call " conviction" . That means that God is ringing their internal alarm bells and telling them they are wrong. They react with hostility. Get used to it , your dad will probably react the same.

I dont... how are you going to know if you don't ask, right? The road to enlightenment begins with a single question.
