with there be a Bach or Mozart? What legacy are we leaving behind in modern music today?

don't you think it's sad that we are probably not going to leave any major mark in the world of music... even now... ask the kids who Beethoven was and they'll tell you it was the Saint Bernard in the movies.

John Williams will no doubt be remembered along with a few others who compose film music. The Beatles will be remembered and possibly Led Zeppelin as well. Most of what we hear today though will fall into obscurity just as the music of the early 1900's has faded from memory.

Genius: Miles Davis, Ravel amazing: Steve Reich, Allan Holdsworth proficient: Kevin Gilbert proficient: Stevie Ray Vaughan despite the fact that if, imo a "amazing" musician can produce greater effective track than a "genius". yet for this reason I used it as genius merely being "the excellent"... for occasion i'm uncertain if Miles Davis grew to become right into a genius according to se, yet i think of Jimi Hendrix grew to become into... despite the fact that if I additionally think of Miles Davis produced infinitely greater effective track to Jimi Hendrix, and so on.

modern as in still alive, yes. paul mccartney, elton john, michael jackson, bob dylan.

modern as in new, probably. eminem and marilyn manson are so controversial. maybe if the white stripes get big enough they'll spark some sort of minimalist movement, and i can see that happening. p. diddy or diddy or whatever i'm supposed to call him is a huge media mogul.

Very few, probably - maybe songwriters such as John Lennon and Bob Dylan will be remembered, but likely no one from 1990 on will be remembered.
