Shouldn't the buggers put on films like they used to? Surely it's a rip off of having to purchase a TV License if they show the news on there when there's a whole channel dedicated to it though not on terrestrial tv. If they can afford millions on changing the BBC's new ad campaign between shows, they ought to get more licenses to show good films or programmes through out the night rather than more news! Anyone agree? Disagree? Why?

I agree with Vicky, DJG is a brilliant historical Asian drama. Think a cross between 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' and 'The Last Emperor', and you have a good idea what this drama will be like.

There is actually a campaign to show this drama on the BBC, but I can't remember their website. It's worth supporting, I think.

BBC should show more cultural shows/dramas like DJG instead of the usual rubbish and endless repeats. And putting on BBC News 24 on after hours is really a sneaky way for them to fill air-time.

I guess the ordinary BBC news at 6 & 10 is for people who haven't gone digital yet. I have to confess to being a news junkie but i can imagine how you feel as i feel the same way about eastenders! I certainly think the BBC should fill the evening slots with a few long 2-2half hour programmes instead of endless half hour reality/soap/other stuff, something you can sit down and really get into, like you say, a good film (preferably not one that's been on before). as for the beeb's new 'thing' between programmes - i really liked the red hot air balloon.

i totally agree with you! there is hardly anything decent on bbc these days atall - anything that looks semi good seems to be on the freeview/cable chanels like bbc3 etc. which if you dont have digital - you cant see! so im paying my tv licence for all these new shows that i cant even watch!
even terry wogan has just said the bbc wastes cash! finally someone whos in the bbc who admits it.
near xmas i bet we will get all the new things between shows aswell - more money gone to waste. why cant they just keep it plain and simple instead of all this money being poured down the drain.
id happily live without bbc if given the choice - the only thing i would slightly miss is eastenders.
bbc need to buck up their ideas, stop doing repeats, stop making these rubbish inbetween arty farty things telling us we watching bbc1,make some decent new shows and show some semi decent films! if they aint gunna do that then scrap the tv licence!

It would be great if they showed more films during the night, or even just repeated some of the programmes that were on earlier in the evening. I can't believe the number of times there are 3 programmes that I want to watch, all on at the same time. I can watch one & tape another, but what do I do about the 3rd? If they showed them later that night, I could tape it!

I totallt agree with you they should put on more films or new comedy instead of news or re runs of 1970 comedy shows that may have seemed funny when i was born but are extremly naff not to mention sexually questionable the eric and ernie show for example mmm two men sharing the same bed in the same flat if that wasnt a blatant attempt at hidden homosexuality i dont know what is

I agree with you. They should put other content on. And yes, we should scrap the tv license and make the BBC sell to us like SKY! Then we would have more choice!
