Yes I'm married to it!!!!! In some cases I have returned the item and got a refund, other times I've reported and got know where, but I tend to check out the feedback before ordering.

No.

Just be practical/reasonable/logical on it and the majority of the time, you will be just fine.

Feedback is important. Look at the feedback of whoever you buy from. Do they have a lot of negatives, and are they from different users? Those are bad signs. Why do they have negatives? Is it due to item flaws, or is it something they can't always control, such as shipping damage? What action did they take in response to the negatives? Are there followups/mediation attempts? Those are also important to note. Almost every large seller has at least one negative, but its the sellers with a lot of them that one must watch out for.

If there's a block of gold selling for a dollar, it's probably not a block of gold. You know, the whole 'too good to be true' thing. I collect coins and there are often fakes when searching for some of the older types of coins. It's easy to tell the difference once you realize that you get what you pay for. Just have common sense. If you want a fake of something, by all means... get it. Just know that if you are paying a tiny amount for something you think is a 'genuine' expensive thing, it probably is NOT a genuine expensive thing.

I've never received anything that wasn't what I expected either. Just pay close attention to the item descriptions and any pictures there are and it should be fine. Ask for more pictures if you feel uncomfortable. Most reputable long-time sellers have return policies anyway, if you really don't like something you got... and if there's no mention of it, it never hurts to ask the seller either.

Also, beware of people selling items cheaply but jacking up the shipping to unreasonable levels. You DO have to pay the whole shipping cost, so paying attention to both that and the item price is important.

Not exactly, but I have received a faulty item. The best way to prevent this is to thoroughly check the seller's feedback before buying - I nearly always buy from sellers with 1000 or more positive feedbacks and no recurring negative feedback (i.e. there aren't 10 people all complaining that returning is a nightmare or very slow delivery).

I've bought about a hundred things and I don't think any were as described , in fact I'd say 98 of them went in the bin because to ask for a refund is pointless because by the time you've paid for postage twice (postage is not refundable) you end up out of pocket any way .

So far all my buys were OK. You need to check out similar items and the feedback your seller gets, this can help deciding where to buy. But you cannot expect a Gucci bag that retails for £1000 and you buy on Ebay for £30 to be a real one, even if the seller claims it to be real. You can't expect too much either...

I have bought items that turned out to be poor quality, but not something that was different than what was shown in the auction.

You do get what you pay for on ebay, so if the deal seems too good to be true it probably is.

Nope. I've purchased some large items from Ebay including a 6 seater chrome, glass & beech table and chair. All has arrived in excellent new order & well packaged..

Not yet.

Read description carefully - check for words like "new, original" and what is actually included (eg. covers).
Most important, only buy from sellers with excellent feedback - I'd say no less than 98% satisfaction rating.
I have found that people accepting paypal are good to deal with.

one or two items have been poor quality that if I had seen them first in a shop etc I probably would not of bought, however I have had some really good bargains and items that I have been perfectly happy with.
