I prefer the most honest and open candidates.

I only want leaders I can trust!

Senate candidates I've voted for ---

Mark Dayton - seemed like a caring person that was pretty much incorruptable (since he was already rich). Turned out I was right - he was so disgusted by how crooked Washington is that he decided not to run for a second term.

Russ Feingold - The guy's a lot more liberal than I am (and I really don't agree with him on what to do about the Iraq war), but again he's a guy that actually seems to give a damn about the little guy. He's not in politics to make money - he's there to make a difference in the lives of people that are fairly powerless otherwise. He says what he thinks whether it's popular or not, and he doesn't back down from a fight. I can respect that - even in a conservative like Rick Santorum (though I wouldn't be caught dead voting for him). He really reminds me of Paul Wellstone, the late/great senator from my origional home state of MN.

Herb Kohl - Again he's independently wealthy and seems imune to the lure of big money from lobyists and other corrupting influences. He's a moderate liberal (BIG plus in my book). He's been in the senate a while and his ability to bring money to my state (WI) is only going to increase with time.

House Representatives I've voted for --

Jim Oberstar - He's a moderate, and has been in the House as long as I can remember - so pork-pork-pork for my district (at the time... I no longer live in MN). I don't agree with the guy on most social issues (he's not a very strong supporter of abortion rights, and his track record on supporting civil liberties is almost non-existent)... but compared to a Republican Oberstar could be the director of the ACLU - so I'll take the lesser of two evils.

Dave Obey - I don't know much about the guy (sorry to say)... but he's a the Democrat in the district I just moved to, and that's good enough for me.

Ron Kind - Met him, and he was a good listener and seemed like an honest and caring guy. Moderately liberal... Biggest thing was that he answered my questions very well. Most politicians will give the run-around to any specific question so they can try to appeal to a mass audience - this guy was willing to address my concerns directly and I appreciate this honest approach (even if I didn't like his answer)...
