Listen to Judas Priest's "Metal Gods" carefully, especially to the rhythm. After that, listen to Van Halen/Van Hagar's "Poundcake."

I initially liked "Poundcake," and it was the first Van Hagar tune I liked. Then I listened closely and noticed the similarities, and deduced that Eddie and the boys were apparently listening to "British Steel" at some point (possibly for inspiration?) while making their album.

Interestingly, if you were to record Judas Priest's "Metal Gods" solo back-to-back, the sum total would be right around the length of the "Poundcake" solo.....while the rhythm matches almost to a T.....
