I thought it was really hard to read. Pick something else if you can... in my opinion.
I have seen the movie, it's bizarre, violent/cruel and you'll never listen to Singin in the rain or Beethoven's 5th the same way again :-)

The problem with Kubrick's film of "A Clockwork Orange" is that it is so dated. Some films are timeless - this one is just creaky. I recently had cause to see "Gone With The Wind" and was delighted - I hadn't seen it in 25 years or so. Then I re-read the book. While there were differences for screen adaption, the film was true to the book. For what, in my opinion, is the best Navy film ever made - read and see "The Sand Pebbles." Outstanding book and outstanding film adaptation.

The book is EXCELLENT! I had to read the first chapter 2 times before I got the language down. After that it, strangely enough, makes complete sense. DO NOT see the movie first, it will seem confusing and not as clever. Enjoy the Moloko fellow Droog!

Rent the movie and view it first...The book is very hard reading ( not the words ) as it is a very "out there" piece of literature. Very bizzar and violent. If you like the movie, you'll enjoy the book.
A Stanley Kubrick movie (1971), adaptation of Anthony Bugess' novel, a satire on a society in the not so distant future.was to harsh for some to stomach in the 70's.

If you can get past the language then yes. He uses nadsat, which is made up of Russian slang, British slang, and some words he made up. Sometimes it's hard to understand but other than that it's a great story and the movie adaptation was good as well.

The book is disturbing but very well written. Read the book then watch the movie. See how much the movie had to be altered in order for it to be made and shown to the public.
