Forget the abuse, sympathise with you, those that have never tried, never failed.
Re: your credit, get hold of a copy of all your files: Experian, Equifax and another I can't remember the name of, make sure it is correct, check ALL entries on all reports, repay any outstanding amounts and go from there.
Mail order catalogues are also quite good at helping you rebuild a credit history, one of the major credit reference agencies was started by Great Universal Stores (GUS), open an account, buy a few goods and repay well to build a good record.
Bankruptcy is not the easy option it is portrayed as, is it.

Get a capital one card, you have to pay a deposit of up to £200 for a £200 credit limit but it's a start. Spend the limit within 2 months and then repay only the minimum payment for 6 months.
Next join a bookclub - you know buy 5 books for £5 and subscribe for a year. Pay on time every time.
Do you need a new car? Go to Accept Car Credit (online) and get a car, put a bit of a deposit down and get a car. The payments are extortionate but it's only for 42 months and it helps to make you look like you are being responsible.
At the same time as you do this apply for a basic bank account with Royal Bank of Scotland.Wait 7 months and then apply for a Switch card and transfer to a current account.
When you have your current account apply for a catalogue at LX Direct. Pay only the minimum payment and shop regulalry (don;t be tempted to pay the no interest option)
For the next 12 months apply for different catalogues and shop on them, paying the minumum monthly amount.
It takes 2 years start to finish but your credit file looks better after this time and you are on the way. Ours was for £28000 by the way and was 3 years ago we cleared it. We're not able to get a mortgage yet but we can comfortably get credit, mobile phones and we have a current account. Good luck

You should have been discharged from the bankruptcy by now. It usually takes 3 years after discharge that your credit becomes clear. There may be certain debts on your credit history that do not show as cleared. You should contact the attorney that you used for the bankruptcy to see what debts still appear on your credit rating. Your attorney can send the appropriate documents to prove you are discharged and clear from debt. Is it possible that you have acquired debts after you filed bankruptcy? That could be a big problem. Good Luck!!

You need to check out this video on how to increase your credit score by using a 100% legal loophole. Here is the video URL: http://www.creditscoresecret.org
I was able to get to 595 from 489 in just one day and from 489 to 748 in just a few week; that's pretty fast in my book. Good luck!

I can't help you too much but my boyfriend recently went bankrupt and 6 months later managed to open a new account with Barclays and he doesn't earn as much as you so you should be able to get a bank account with them.
