okay you will find more explitit definitions in many books. These guys do lots of things, but to cut the long story short they are responsible for an entire company includuing the staff, buildings,resources/supplies, machinery, finance, strategy and direction, marketing, shareholders, customers(basically everybody with an interest in the business) They need to satisfy everyone to the best of their ability and return a profit with year on year growth. This is a highly pressured job with heavy responsiblity, they are good at makling decions and planning and getting results. They are trained to relax in order to handle the pressure, its cut throat stuff, they need to say the right thing, and they are also company politicians. I could go on but their are many books written about this, Try Iccocoa Biography the former CEO/Chairman of Chrysler, that will explain a lot.
