im not sure if it went well or not. at the end of it, the interviewer told me that he had a couple more interviews this week but he'd put me on a list for second interviews. ... and later - next week- another manager would call to schedual these second interviews. ... does this mean i probably wont get called back? if it DID go well, wouldnt he have said " we'll hire you." second interviews - common?

These days very few people are hired after only one interview. The initial interview is a tool to weed out the "losers". All the people who performed well are asked back for a second interview. Trust me, it's a good thing if they call you back in for a second round of interviews!

I wouldn't worry about being called back for a 2nd interview. They probably have a bunch of applicants that they need to interview and weed out the bad from the good. Depending on what department you will be working in, you may need to talk to the manager that is actually in charge of that dept or if that is who you had the interview with, you may be called back to talk to the ops manager.

Most of the time they do not hire you on the spot unless they are really desperate for help.

honestly, im a retail manager, and second interviews are not uncommon, some have you take a telephone interview first, which is usually a series of questions asking the same thing four or five different ways, in any event its used to "weed out" candidates. if i applied for a job, and did not get offered a second interview, but was hired "on the spot" i would wonder what i was getting myself into....um usually in retail if you are hired "on the spot" it is to fill an empty place somewhere, and most likely not the best job in the world. (as if retail is in any way a GOOD job! haha) a second interview is better than them saying thank you for your time, if we decide to offer you a position we will call. you will most likely be offered a job. (: If not, trust me, there are many other retail jobs available, retail sales is one of the fastest growing job opportunities available...hahaha....take it from me, there is a reason for this! (:

I never had a second interview at Petsmart, and actually, after my original interview they sent me right away to do a drug test and scheduled me to start right away. But, I was overqualified and they were hurting for cashiers (hah!). But here's what I'm guessing is happening with you: it's the Ops Manager that usually does the hiring, and it sounds like that's who did your interview. The reason "another" manager will see you the second time is probably because it's the actual Store Manager, who's making sure the Ops guy isn't hiring anyone crappy behind his/her back. I think you will get hired, and it sounds like you're being hired to work at a "good" Petsmart. Count your blessings that they HAVE other applicants and can pick and choose, it means you're going to get to work with better-qualified, friendlier people. Good luck!

Maybe, the store manager wants to interview, during the second interview they usually offer you the job. That happen to one of my friends and the second interview they hire her on the spot. Best Wishes and Good Luck!

That's not uncommon. We tend to have multiple people doing the interviews so we don't have to call people back. Just take a consensus of views of the applicant. We have on occasion called people back for a second look.

Call back and thank them for the opportunity to interview and that you're looking foreward to seeing them again. Remember, there is no second chance to make a good first impression.

Perhaps they had many applicants and they are narrowing them down. Companies with good wages and benefits can get many applications. If they call you for a second interview, you are probably going to be hired.

that's common they have to go ahead & go through w/ the other interviews they already have scheduled what if they hire you on the spot & the girl/guy 2 interviews away from you was the better candidate? you have to look at it like that!

i would guess that is positive if they knew they were not going to give you a second interview, they would have just said we will call you without mentioning second interviews.
