well it doesnt make your car run to good but for the most part its harmless, over the years lots of my customers have done this by mistake.diesel in gas should be drained and replaced with new gas ,you should also replace your in line fuel filter.then start it up and let it run awhile till it clears out ,wont take too long.sometimes it will make your ck engine light come on but it will clear after 50 key starts or so .or if you know someone with a code clearing device do it that way.

A lot please don't do that. Gasoline and diesel work completely differently. Gas turns your pistons when it is ignited by spark plugs at begin of the engine cycle. Whereas diesel is self ignited due to the pistons compressing the fuel. Diesel is not made to be ignited the same way as gasoline. On the low end you would permanently mess of the timing of your pistons and destroy you manifold which leads to need new engine. High end you could cause unplanned explosion due to improper fuel mixture which would lead to need new car. As I say again as a mechanical engineer please don't do that.

Pump out what you can, then fill tank with gasoline.Burn 1/2 the tank and fill it again. You shouldn't have a problem. Maybe a litle smoke until the diesel fuel is gone
If you drive it with the diesel fuel you will not go far.

REMOVE DIESEL FUEL "IMMEDIATELY....I suggest that you have the fuel system flushed, "you did not mention" if you have ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION (EFI) ? if you do have efi, you could cause MAJOR problems, "IF" the diesel fuel was put into your car by a service station "attendent, you have good grounds for recourse, for ALL cost`s "including" any damages it may hve caused, (bare in mind), I was in the motor repair trade for 40 years, now retired, And what applies HERE in AUSTRALIA, may NOT apply in other countries...GOOD LUCK.

It won't run if you put a lot of diesel, if you only put a little, it will probably just run a little rough & smoke a bit..
If you put a lot, you will have to have the tank drained but you won't have ruined anything....

Well...you will see some white smoke and if you do not take it in right away your engine will seize.

If you like do it at the gas station and catch your error before you drive, drain the tank completely and fill it with a FULL tank of high quality gas.
