I live in Pittsburgh, PA. I was pregnant at the time and still living with my mom and dad. I fell asleep on the living room floor the night before and awoke to go to the bathroom and saw my sister on the couch watching The Today Show and holding my nephew. I heard on the tv something about a plane crash and asked her what was going on and she told me that a plane went into one of the towers of the World Trade Center. I asked her if it was an accident and she said they didn't know yet and just then as we were watching, the second plane hit and we knew it wasn't an accident. I'll never forget that day. Although I didn't personally know anyone who died in the terrorism attacks, I still cried for them. I still cry on occassion as I'm sure a lot of us do. I'm so sorry for your loss.

A good friend of mine was moving from London, England to Houston, TX and I had taken her to Heathrow Airport. I came home and flipped on the TV and as I was watching Friends, a message popped up saying that a plane had hit the WTC and that viewers should switch to Sky News for more information. I sat stunned as I watched events unfold. Upon hearing that flights to the US were being turned back, I had to break away from the TV to contact the airline my friend was travelling with and sure enough, her flight was being sent back to the UK so I left the house again and went back to the airport whereupon I waited for three hours for her to return and get through security. It was some weeks before she regained the confidence to get on another plane bound for Texas!
Not as closely connected to your story by any stretch, but worth sharing I thought. They always say you never forget where you were or what you were doing when something like 9/11 happens. It is true.
Best Wishes.

I was at work. We produced educational software for hospitals and schools of nursing. We always had a TV going. One of the techs was just letting the news play in the background and happened to glance up at the time the first airplane struck the WTC. We all went to the TV room and watched in horror. Then I tried to call my mom and dad, they lived on the east coast and were supposed to be on a trip around that time. I was frantic when I realized that there weren't any calls going through. Finally I reached a friend via email and she told me more of what was happening. I contacted my brother ASAP since he is in the military and he pulled some strings to find out that our folks were okay. I didn't lose anyone I knew personally, but every one that was lost I have grieved for...for them, and their families.

Sorry to hear you had people you knew in that mess. I was at work at Wal-Mart. and when the first plane hit, the electronics dept. manager called us that were closet to the tv area. I remember thinking, "how did someone fly into a sky scraper?" just as the second one flew in. I had a horrble feeling and thought that this was "the end, here's ww3. " there were some local people from the Kansas City area that were in the twin towers that day, on business or visiting.

i had just got off from working third shift. and i had class in about four hours at the university of florida. i was starting to go to sleep when my roommate busted in my room exclaiming a plane crushed into the world trade building! i told him to get the **** out of my room. he cut my tv on and we watched the second plane hit. my first thought was cool special effects what movie is this. then the rest of the house was up and all the channels had the same images. i could believe this was happening. on the spanish channel they were showing close up of the building and you could see some of the people who were trapped and some who jumped from the building with no hope of surviving. i was crying man, shaking my head side to side in horror and disbelief that this could happen on american soil.

I was on my couch 8 months pregnant with my cat on my tummy. My sister called me and told me that a plane flew into the World Trade Center and I was like flew into it so I turned on the TV and watched. My son was in preschool so we talked with him to let him know what was going on (because his grandparents are in NY and other family) and he cried and he had like $230$saved and he gave it all to the victims of NY. Hes a sweet kid He did the same thing for Katrina victims. Once my son was out of school that day we went to out church and there were tons of people there just praying.

Of course I do. When an event as huge as that occurs, you always remember where you were when it happened, like, for example, New Year's Eve 2000.
