It's not unusual at all. Many women refrain from ever using tampons due to health and environmental concerns.

Tampons have been linked to bacterial infection (toxic shock syndrome), perforation of the hymen, and even a few deaths. Some are made with genetically modified cotton. Clorine bleaching of tampons is also implicated in dioxin contamination, which can cause cancer and endometriosis, among other problems. Some tampons even have remnants of the pesticides that were used on the cotton to produce them.

And just as you probably wouldn't want most of those things in your body, many people don't much like the idea of them ending up in the environment either. If a woman tends to use only tampons, she can expect to use 10,000 or so in her lifetime. These each take around six months to biodegrade, and some never do. Tampons cause stress in some sewage systems that can lead them to failure.

So in all, yes, there are lots of good reasons why a woman might choose not to use tampons. Make an informed choice yourself!

When I first got my period I only used pads (for about the first year I think!) because tampons were too tricky. Once you get used to them though, they're heaps better, as they provide much better 'protection' (from embarrassing leaks and smells). Just remember to change them regularly (no more than 5-6 hours at a time) and definitely don't wear them overnight. It's a personal thing, so stick with pads for now if that's what suits you.

Nope, I just use pads. I always leaked with tampons so I had to use a pad anyway. I figured I might as well skip the extra step. I only use tampons if I swim.

I would say it depends on how old you are if you r still young and in your teens and have never had sex then it's uncomfortable. But i think it's abit more cleaner to use tampons rather then just pads and safer because if you use tampons alot u can get ill thers's a thing called toxic shock sysndrom u get that from leaving them into long

Pads are not that undesirable in case you hit upon the wonderful ones for you and the quantity of menstrual flow. you are able to sense wetness often times, yet that feeling will flow away in case you have a sturdy pad. Tampons are inserted as deep by way of fact the outer applicator tube will flow into the vagina so as which you will actually carry directly to the finger grip section to get rid of the two tubes while the tampon is finally inserted.

No, its a personal choice. After my second child was born, the dr that sewed me up was an intern and had never done it before, and sewed me so loose I couldn't keep tampons in anymore. But its just a personal choice for a woman to make, its nobody's business.

No, not at all. I preferred pads, because I could see how much I was flowing and when a change was needed. With a tampon, I never knew when to change until I had leaked.

Whatever you are comfortable with really. It took me a while to get used to tampons, if your not used to them they can be tough to get used to. There are right and wrong ways of using them, so if you simply dont like them because they are uncomfortable you might first want to make sure you are using them correctly before shying away from them. Yet again it is all preference.

No. Lots of women prefer pads. It's probably a bit safer, too, since you're not carrying around a breeding ground for bacteria inside your body.

It's all about personal preference.

I like pads better and I always have. Tampons, for me, are uncomfortable but I use them when I have to.

If you like pads, stick with them.
