Three charged after woman's death

Ms Townsend's body was found in a Land Rover in Essex
Three men have been charged in connection with the death of a woman whose scalp tissue was found on a road.
Deborah Townsend's tissue and blood were found on the A146 at Beccles in July. Her body was found in Essex.

Michael Briggs, 38, of Suffolk Road and Robert Caunter, 36, of Eldred Road, both from Barking, have been charged with assisting an offender.

Joseph Brown, 36, of Mildmay Road, Romford faces the same charge. All are due before magistrates next week.

A post-mortem examination found that Ms Townsend, 35, from London, died from head injuries.

Ms Townsend, also known as Deborah Jane Hamilton, was found dead in the back of a silver/grey 2004 Land Rover Discovery in the grounds of Newland Hall in Roxwell, Essex, on 17 July.

Detectives still want to speak to Ms Townsend's boyfriend, Christopher Caunter, who has not been seen since her death

Christopher Alan Caunter, 34, was arrested on Wednesday
Police in Thailand have arrested a British man wanted in connection with the killing of his girlfriend, whose body was found in Essex.
Christopher Alan Caunter, 34, was arrested on Wednesday in Petchaburi province, a Thai police spokesman said.

Mr Caunter is wanted for questioning about the death of Deborah Townsend, of East Ham, London, whose scalp and blood were found on the A146 road in Suffolk.

Suffolk Police said they were aware of the reported arrest in Thailand.

Major Jakrit Aimchaengphan said Thai authorities had been alerted by British police that he may have fled to the south-east Asian country.

Three men from Essex have also been charged in connection with the death of Ms Townsend, 35, whose body was found in a Land Rover at Newland Hall, Roxwell, Essex, on 16 July 2005.

It was later that her blood and hair were found on the A146, near Beccles.

Post-mortem tests showed that she had died of head injuries.
