I have a 8 yrs old suzuki car with 1300 cc engine & clocked only 50000 kms, the engine is in very good condition. There is a strange problem in my car, it starts missing while driving (as if there is no fuel). I got the oil tank cleaned & re-fueled with fresh petrol, replaced oil tank's pump, changed fuel filter & ultimately got the carburettor cleaned thoroughly. But the missing problem wont go. It stops after jerks (as if the gas has finsihed). Then I have to wait for a while to re-start it. Now irritating part is that this problem is occassional. In 1 & 2nd gear its gets worst & frequent. There has been no visible improvement even after all the above mentioned repair jobs. What can be the cause, am I forgetting something to be checked ? Please help!

Gold wing could be right. But you may have a clogged Catalytic converter,Or bad O2 sensors. You also may have a fuel pump going bad too.
Check what Goldwing suggested first. It is the cheapest thing to repair if he's right. If not check out the things I suggested. That is if your problem is fuel related.
It could be a bad distributor cap, bad wires, bad spark plugs, the timing maybe off, or the vacuum line to your distributor may be leaking. The vacuum helps advance the spark when you step on the gas. If it's not working you'll have missing and a preignition rattle when you step on the gas.
Hope this helped.

Ok. Check the fuel lines for a rubber peace.
Most fuel line is steel. But there are sections where it goes into a peace of rubber hose. Over time this rubber line rots and becomes soft and collopes. It does this and sicks thge fuel line in half cutting off the fuel from the pressure.
As the fuel pump sucks the fuel out of the tank it makes the fuel line colleps. Cutting off the fuel. After it sits, the pressure drops and opens up the fuel line again, and off you go. Then as time goes on it does it again.

So check every inch of fuel line frop the fuel tank to the carb.
I am shure you will find a peace that is verry soft.

Ignition ... spark plugs, plug wires and distributor w/condenser if it's old enough to have a distributor. Those are some of the most over looked problems in autos.
I'm guilty of it to an extent. But, recently I started having problems with stalling and 'bucking' and I knew immediately I needed new plug wires. I have new 'platinum' plugs and the distributor is a 'pack' ( not round & computer controlled ).
Replace the afore mentioned.

Check your spark plugs and see if they are carbon fouled. if they are you may be getting too much fuel in to the motor and it's flooding out. check all the fuel lines and replace the fuel filter. you may also want to run a presser tester on the fuel lines and make sure your pump is not on it's way out.

You should have your ignition system checked for faulty parts. Any malfunctioning part in the ignition system (plugs, wires, coil, and if it has one - distributor cap, rotor, and ignition module) could cause your problem. With the number of kms you have on this car, that would be my best guess without having the car to look at myself.

To solve this problem, you need to know if its a "fuel or Igintion" fault ,The next time it dies ,when trying to restart, check for iginition spark,if spark is ok,the problems still fuel related! Good luck!

you may want to check you cat converter. pontiacs for example are chronic with the beads expanding and chloging the converter. if you stop the car for a while, they cool down and you are good to go 4 a little while, untill it all goes south after a while

It sounds like you have a hi rev miss. I'd check the ignition wires. Has it had a good tune up lately?

If you have done all of the other stuff you listed check to make sure the tank vent tube isn't plugged.
