great answer elayne trakand why would anyone think black comedians are racist especially if they make fun of their own race? rednecks are not neccesarily a race though they are known to be white males. jeff foxworthy is A georgia native and when he makes fun of rednecks he is poking fun at himself though he isn't what is generally classified as a redneck“Foxworthy is especially virtuosic in his physical comedy, his flights of fancy and lightning shifts of tone and mood, he blends all these elements effortlessly. He may define being redneck as possessing “a glorious lack of sophistication,” but the truth is that Foxworthy, for all his regular-guy image, is a decidedly sophisticated artist. Do yuo laugh as others do when he jokes about rednecks or whatever that's what he does he is a comedian he gets paid to make people laugh. I know a few who classify themselves as rednecks and are proud to be so my nephew is a wanna be redneck he just can't quite cut the mustard he's more like a jerk instead

Heck no Jeff Foxworthy is not racist. He makes fun of rednecks because if we can't laugh at ourselves, we would have to cry! Rednecks aren't all racist. In fact, most aren't. They are just middle class white people who were raised with a country overtone. Lots of so called "rednecks" are farmers, ranchers, and laborers and they don't have a thing in the world against blacks. Most will tell you that the Rebel Flag is a sign of Heritage and not hate. Whites should be able to have a Heritage right along with blacks. As for Jeff Foxworthy, he's just funny. He has alot of black fans along with asian and hispanic fans. Sinbad was once a guest on his variety show.

Why is it racist to make fun of rednecks? Rednecks are not even a race.... I think comedians who can make fun of everyone... including there own race are sheer genius. I think we need more comedians out there making us laugh at the stereotypes, it makes you realize how ridiculous they are. I personally believe that is a best way to make those stereotypes and possibly racism disappear.

Jeff Foxworthy uses redneck as a term of endearment, as he himself is from the south and possesses some of a 'typical redneck's' qualities. But he is not a racist, as he is not making fun of all whites, only a type of white people. And he's not degrading them, but poking fun at the established stereotypes laid out by society. I see it as embracing and joking with redneck culture, not degrading and insulting them. Its similar to when two friends joke around with each other, they do not mean to insult, only to play.

White people can't make fun of anyone else without being called racist. I am sure he would poke fun at other races if that was not the case. Freedom of speech, but watch what you say is more like it in reality.

Yes, by using racist stereotypes in his program he is by definition a racist. That being said, i don't think he's a bad person, but by saying or suggesting things like "all people of (race) A do B" (e.g. "all black people comment in movie theaters") he is supporting racist stereotypes, doing so for profit, and - given that he is a professional for years - on purpose.

I don't think so, more like Classist (if that's a real term). See, traditionally Rednecks are white people. But, they don't have to be. If you aren't white, but you have a broke down '72 Ford Maverick in your front yard, you're a redneck.
