Try a maroon or berry lipstick instead.

Yes.
You need to find out from a makeup counter if you are warm toned or cool toned (just your haircolor and complexion does not determine that alone). If you are cool toned, get red with a blue base (these will usually have a symbol somewhere saying they are for cool tones but are generally shades of pink and plum). If you are warm toned, get warm shades (which are generally shades of coral).
A makeup counter at the mall can give you a makeover and help you determine what looks best on you.

My hair used to be red and all shades of it too. I suggest a red shade lipstick that does not have a blue tone in it. London red or red that is more in the pink shade should look good on you.

Absolutely! It has to be the right shade. I think a shade like Fiesta red works well. It has to have orange in the red. This will make it kick. Redheads look best in red but the shade has to be bright and with a touch of orange. Fiesta red is a DuPont color used on Ford T-birds and Fender Strats.

red lipstick doesn't look good becasue it is so far from being a natural lip color! Try a different shade of red. I would think on a red head, somthing with a little peach or plum color in it would look good.

Most women wear what ever shade of lip stick they want to wear - hair color doesn't stop most. If it really bothers your then go to a cosmetic counter and get some advice as to what would look the best on you.

Go to a department store and have someone give you a makeover. You probably wouldnt be able to wear a bright red, something a little more crimson.

Yes, I especially love cherry red. It is so sexy. If I wore lipstick that would be my color of choice

Yes, you can. Try Chanel's Rouge Allure in Brilliant. It's pricey, but what I paid for that one tube equals what I wasted on cheapies.
