I checked with the county's land record. They have no files that go back further than 1970 because of a fire. The state doesn't have the information either.

Often a buildings age can be determined by the materials it was built by and building style. If you are lucky though the year of its constuction may be imprinted on the walls or floor of the building but I am sure you already checked for that. Radiation testing can be done on granite buildings but that can expensive. Brick buildings have to phases before and after the creation of the hydulic press these bricks don't chip to the finger nail and were made after the 1900s . buildings If you post more information it'd be easier to estimate the age.

county and real estate records help.

Look at windows - if they are original they can tell a lot - sometimes there are dates on the frames. Other original equipment can help.

I found a "flavor dated" beer can in the basement of a house dated August of 1936 - left by construction crew!

Some methods depend on the house being really old- wiring, gas plumbing (for lights) lead pipes for water etc.

It depends on how complicated the design. If you have a lot of tight corners and you want to show off the details, i'd paint first then build. If it's a simple table and your not being to painstaking with the craftsmanship, build first then paint. Best wishes, BillyT

County Records Department. Here in California, Alameda County I have had no problems with getting that type of information. Try it in your county. I'm not sure why above answerer is negative about that.

If you can not pull a Deed at your City Clerks office, then you may check with your local surveyors.

County offices are bad about sharing information. Try contacting other offices, you could question some neighbors

Normally all of that information should be on the deed.
