I just found out about Bearshare, a P2P program that says it is clean and legal. It is also very popular, and seems pretty safe. But, just how clean is it? Anyone have any experiances with it where it didn't work? Anyone have any better P2P programs? (don't give me Kazaa or Limewire, or any of that junk.)

BearShare is legal to own and install. Downloading copywritten material is illegal, though, regardless of the software.

BearShare, as a piece of software, is OK, but not the best out there. You mention Kazaa, but it's quick and easy and has tons of content. If you don't like LimeWire, I don't think you're going to like any of the P-to-P apps out there - it's about the best.

Bearshare is legal but no-one can say anything about viruses or no viruses because that all depends on who or what you are downloading or downloading from. They could send a virus with it or not. Limewire is about the best as it gets for free service. Other than that they aren't free. Bearshare isn't really all that popular because I've never heard of it and it's hard to find on like google when you search downloading music or whatever. That's a good way to check if it's really popular. If it's extremely popular, they will have blogs about it and stuff.

No, save your self before you infect your computer from outside un-known sources, for example, if i had bearshare, i could , as you can too, go virtually in your pc and send you a virus. I can also take any file i want from your computer even a file that is private and only you want to look at. I guees you didn't know what peek to peek meant

no p2p program when downloading copywrited material is legal and none is safe from viruses. Thats what you have to deal with for free files.

I've used it in the past with success. I use Limewire too and they both have their issues.
