If you're looking for scary movies that aren't way too gory...
I'd go with, the shining, the exorcisim of emily rose, I know what you did last summer, I still know what you did last summer, and maybe IT.
If you're looking for scary movies with blood/action.
Go with 13 ghosts, saw 1, 2 and 3 (in theatres) The grudge 1& 2, The new version of, The Texas Chainsaw Masacre, the Devil's rejects,and The Hills Have Eyes, and any Freddy Crooger/ Jason movie. (I'd recomend Freddy vs. Jason)
If you're looking for just crazy movies that make you think.
