It is as if people verify what skin color you are before they make judgement.

For example: a person commits a crime and is reported on the news.
A person asks: " Is he/she black or white?"

Why do people do that?

I think that you will find that as you get older there will be less of that.

People do that because of stereotypes and the media. We have been conditioned to believe and sometimes rightfully so, that certain races commit certain crimes. Unfortunately, especially in the African American community there is sometimes a sense of relief when we find out that certain crimes have been committed by another race, just because we usually take so much of the heat in the news.

I still can't figure this one out and I have been trying to all my life !

What in the world could possibly make someone think that they are any better or worse than anyone else , especially because of color of skin alone .

Habit. Hate to say it but I am always releived when its not a black person. The DC sniper devistated me. What you don't realize is that for every black person who commits a crime, 100 others are deemed to be criminals. Thats how it feels to me as a black person.

Not sure about anyone else so I DON'T REPRESENT ALL BLACK THOUGHT!!!!!

I don't know...a crime is a crime, love is love, hate is hate, regardless of your race.
Dr. King taught us to judge each other by the content of our character, not the color of our skin. Sounds like a good rule to me.

People fear differences. It's in our genes. Animals do the same. Someone from a different tribe is potential danger. We are expected to use our intelligence and spirituality to rise above those primal feelings and do what's right.

They are simply ignorant,, there is no other way to put it.

Besides,, media love to throw the "race card" out there whenever they can.

It makes the news more seem volatile and interesting.
