Not really. People who are delusional believe their delusions to be fact while people with OCD acknowledge their feelings to be illogical.

What is actually going on in the mind of someone with OCD is really very different than the physical manifestation of the disorder.

A person can have OCD and some type of delusional psychosis at the same time though.

No. One is action..repeated action. Delusional thinking can be triggered by experiences. Take for example Delirium. Many alcoholics suffer delusional thinking, however Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a persistent and unwelcome thought and potential anxiety which can be disabling. You can fear that every key stroke or every surface you touch is going to cause you some harm and you can repetitively spray your hands..or wash your hands or wipe your hands.......all to get rid of the thoughts. OCD is thus is a psychiatric condition. Delusions is an internalized belief, that belief is set and fixed in the mind and the key thing here,........the belief is not real; it is false and the sufferer is absolutely convinced and convicted that his/her experience is real. In OCD, the table top or keyboard or the object of OCD is very real and it triggers the sufferer to perform real repetitive action.

OCD is an anxiety disorder where as delusional disorder is more of a cognitive disorder.

Schizophrenia, delusional disorders and other psychotic conditions, and psychosis accompanying depression, substance abuse, and dementia are easy to distinguish from OCD. Unlike, psychotic individuals, people with OCD continues to have a clear idea of what is real and what is not.

As a person who could be said to have OCD although VERY mildly, and like an alcoholic I say I CHOOSE this behaviour!!! I don't agree delusional behaviour comes in to it. I think that people with this feel that they don't have control over some parts of their lives, so they do certain things that they can have control over, and therefore control the outcomes of certain actions by knowing that the outcome is constant, therefore feel some sense of security in an uncertain world.Although maybe they are deluding themselves, so maybe you are right after all!

I don't think so.
OCD involves an obsession and compulsion to do certain things, and an inability to stop. It's anxiety related.

Delusions are irrational beliefs of which the person suffering is utterly convinced of, usually found in mental illnesses such as schizophrenia.

I would say so, because when people do things like wash their hands 50 times a day for no good reason, I would call that at least a bit delusional.
