Make prisoners work for their living. No more living off the taxpayer.
Get rid of gyms, TV rooms, and all the luxuries these scumbags get to enjoy in prison.
Stop sending people to prison for silly petty crimes and for not paying their council tax etc. Give them community service instead.
For child murdering monsters like Ian Huntley, bring back the death penalty.

Since Labour came to power they have introduced over 3,000 more criminal offences - why are people surprised the prisons are full? Some of the answers seem to think prison is a soft option without any clue as to what it means to go through th justice system or in fact what prisoners face. Some criticise the cost to the tax payer...well yep all issues but...has anyone thought who is locked up and why? Home Secretary aftwer HS has sought to be bigger and tougher on crime than the previous incumbent - the result is more and more people locked up for shoplifting, for drug offences, motoring offences, not paying TV lciences - scumbags? - nope not really but the system that wants to criminalise a nation is wrong. The system creates a drain on taxes - community sentences could and should contribute to a better society - and it works despite the flog and hang em brigade who seem to think a version of Sh'ria law or a return to the good old days of executions on Tyburn Hill will somehow make us a better society. Weird then that crime rises - is it because we dont address the real issues. Stop kneee jerk reacting to whatever the Daily Mail has told you to think and start looking at facts. Less criminal offences. Prison for those who have harmed or pose a threat. Community service and rehabiliation where society benefits. Simple

It does seem strange that we lock murderers and rapists up with tax fraudsters, the latter being of more use doing charity work, or sweeping the edges of the M25 (which resembles the pavement outside a busy McDonald's!). Little old ladies being put away for not paying their poll tax (or whatever it's called these days) is absolutely scandalous. They'll come out with a working knowledge of an Uzi and be robbing banks before you can say 'Set her Free!'
The problem is that no one will actually sit down and sort it all out. There's so much in-fighting, and 'Oh I'll lose votes', that nothing will ever get done.
I guess, we'll just have to pay out and build more prisons. Then all the good guys can live in the prisons and the baddies can live in misery and mess outside.

The best idea in the world...export the excess to third world countries, in fact export all high security detainees and close the prisons. OK it wouldn't do much for the balance of payments of the Isle of Wight, but it would help the rest of the UK. It would be cheap and it would help the economy of a developing nation. I accept that prisoner visitation rights and in some cases human rights may prove a little controversial, but at the end of the day, the prisoners chose to break the law.

It ability what it says. It expenses under the dying penalty. final of all, extra beneficial than 50 of the 124 wrongfully convicted human beings on dying row had already served a decade formerly being exonerated. rushing up the approach will assure we execute harmless human beings.

Have you seen Escape from New York? Turn some island someplace into one big maximum security prison and chuck them in it? When that gets too full, which I doubt as they will probably kill each other, hopefully we can colonise a planet and turn it into a prison just like in Aliens 3.
That should help:-)

Outsource the prisons to India and China!!!!
Let the prisoners live a substandard life in Asia... not unlike the French prisons on French Guyana (like the movie Papillon?).

Stop incarcerating non-violent offenders, petty thieves, drunks, etc. There is a lot that needs to be done in the community and they should be the ones to do it. Legalize weed ONLY and make sure that drug dealers are REALLY addicts before letting them go to out-patient treatment programs Many drug dealers will use this to avoid jail. Real addicts need in-patient anyway. Also, 3 strike laws should not apply to non-violent offenders. And don't say that drug dealers aren't violent. What they do is the cause of much of the gang violence in our communities and they should be held accountable. The same goes for drunk drivers who cause even minor injury.

bring back capital punishment
a) less criminals in prison as murderer/peados/rapists etc killed off
b) less people will comit a crime as they know if they do they could be dead v soon
and with this method its cheaper for the tax payer as you only pay for a few weeks in prison then death not like it is now when you pay the inmates to play scrable and live a decent life.

They are putting them on ships now apparently. They can all mutiny on the bounty out there and we will never hear from them again!
Judges don't hand out the right sentences.
Also, here's an idea- we should have Islamic Law- If they steal we shall chop off their hands! Who shall dare steal then? Huh? That will clear the prisons.
