Ugly is a point of view, but hideous? Surely if voted upon by all the other species that honor would have to go to modern humans. I'm sure there are a great many species that perceive humans as quite ugly and tremble at the mere sight of one. After all our lifestyles, modes of living and unrestrained reproduction virtually destroy the habitats for the rest of the natural world, and nothing is off our menu. We harvest, kill for sport, cut up, dismember and eat practically anything that grows or moves and on top of that our waste products contaminate and blight what little is left. That rates humans as the most utterly, completely and totally "hideous" species on the planet... hooray for us, we win again.

Most of the creatures i've found hideous on discovery (et al) were deep sea creatures living in the mesopelagic level of the ocean and deeper. Here are some:

That thing is freaking disgusting. The only animals that might be uglier than that are some of the ones that live in the parts of the ocean where sunllight doesn't reach.

There are plenty of ugly animals in the depths of the ocean where the sun rays don't reach. I'm forgetting the name of one but it has a rod like thing off the top of its head with a light on it and large teeth with scaly skin. Quite ugly.
