If you mean on a console (especially PS2) you've came to the right place! I am an RPG addict! My fave RPGs for PS2 are:
Final Fantasy X
Dark Cloud 2 (great game that never got the recognition it deserved)
Final Fantasy X-2
Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2
Wild Arms 3 or 4
Dragon Quest 8
and Final Fantasy XII come out on Halloween!
Also, a great action game that has weapon level-ups (similar to a RPG) is God of War! Best game ever on the PS2! And the sequel comes out in February!

First if it is shooting rpg i will say GTA san andreas, For adventure RPG i will say elder scrolls 4 OBLIVION. Has ultra good graphics in oblivion and it is fun. in GTA it is very addictive to shoot every body but then the police comes to kill you if you have 6 stars tanks will come

I asked the same thing awhile back - the best one out there seems to be World of Warcraft - but I haven't played it yet & am not sure I want to spend $200 to play it (monthly fee + software)
