Cost-wise, Viet Nam is actually a little cheaper -- but both are quite affordable. Both have similar climates. Viet Nam gets the nod if you like ancient history, there are lots of ancient ruins of temples and other historical sites to visit, less so in the Philippines.
However, for English speakers, the Philippines has one huge advantage -- it's very easy to find someone who speaks English in the Philippines, nearly everyone speaks at least some. Not so in Viet Nam, I had a much harder time.
You'll enjoy either one very much, both have incredibly friendly people who love visitors.

Philippines is a very nice country to be in. It is very cheap too. The people are all very pleasant and hospitable and there are a lot of tourist attractions. If you love scuba diving, the beach or things along that line- the Philippines is the place to be. The Philippines has a lot of natural resources which I'm sure you would just love to see. I suggest you go there.

i have been to the philippines many times and have not been to vietnam.i do know something about vietnam though based on my own research.#1.vietnam is safer than the philippines.the philippines is a dangerous place where harm can easily come to a foriegner.not so in vietnam.#2.i prefer vitnamese food and it is generally fresher on the streets than in the phils.#3.the girls are even prettier than the filipinas.dont get me wrong,the filipinas are very beautiful but those vietnamese girls are ohhh lala.#4.vietnam is cleaner than the philippines.the philippines is dirty.the people simply toss thier trash onto the ground and its just dirty everywhere.i cannot really make a solid judgement because as i said,i have not yet been to vietnam.the best thing about the phils versus vietnam is they speak english much better and this might be the deal breaker.

I really love Philippines than vietnam
vietnam is also a nice country
but some didnt know how to speak english.

as what well travel has said, cost wise, its much cheaper in vietnam, if u like the ancient ruins, they have nice beaches too.. but the people don't speak much english unlike in the philippines,if u ask for directions they would gladly assist you..
and philippines has a lot of beautiful people nice and friendly too

It depends what you want to do. If you like beaches and the sea, the Philippines is better. Both are very affordable.
Leigh - what the hell does the ratio of pesos to dollars have to do with anything? If something costs one dollar in the US, but 50 pesos in the Philippines - it's the same diba?

Go to Philippinnes :) cheaper and the weather is great!!! Eventough I havent been in Vietnam, so.. You choose the contry U rather want to travel to.. ;) Eather way U will have a good trip ;)

better take philippines i've been there because $1=50peso bill..all of the stuff are cheap..no idea in vietnam id never been there..
