To make this fair, I'll give you each point of view the best I can.

Mom: Thinks Hollinger (she refuses to respect the name) is over priced for cheap clothing. She doesn't go in cause it'll make her sick. She thinks I can buy the same thing for cheaper at Target or Kohls.

Me: I think calling Hollister "Hollinger" is immature. I admit, thier t-shirts can be thin sometimes, but not nearly as bad as Target or Kohls. I own a sweater from Target, but I'd like some things from Hollister, not because it's from Hollister, but the clothes. I have had my eye on certain colors and designs that I don't usually see. Everyhting I DO own from Hollister came from my hard earned money. My mother used to refuse to take me to Aeropostale because she assumed they were overpriced store that sold cheap clothing, now she likes it and doesn't fight to shop there (Although I don't like thier clothes as much.......t-shirts are see through ALOT and pants are badly fitting. Sweaters are thin.)

SHE HAS NEVER SET FOOT INTO HOLLISTER!!!!!!! Not once! So how can she judge them without even giving it a try. I bought a shirt at AE for $35 and it's HORRIBLE it stretches out when I put it on. I bought a tshirt from Hollister and it was see through (White shirt) but I only got it for $15 and it wasn't on clearence.

PS

Please dont answer just to tell me you hate preps or w/e.............waste of your life.

Firstly.....thanks to the first person....I didn't catch your name when I typed this but just reading the matturity of ur suggestion I realized I handle this immaturly......and maybe I should try negotiating like you said.........

Second:

She WILL walk into Hollister before November 12th for sure because I need to go there for a gift and she said yes. How should I handle this situation to be sure she doesn't get a bad impression by going straight to thier $60 overpriced jeans (I can agree on that)???

One more VERY IMPORTANT THING!!!!!!!!

I WOULD use my money (I have about $100) and go buy some clothes asap, but I can't cause I'm saving it for Christmas and Birthdays......including HERS!!!! All I do with my money is save it in an account and but clothes she wont. Basically, all I really want in life is Hollister clothes.

Sometimes moms are like that, When I was a teenager my mom never buys me branded clothes until one time when she found something she likes in a branded store that I like! From then on she becomes a fan of my favorite brand (Polo Jeans for shirts).

Why not buy something from Hollister or aeropostale that you think your mom will like, lets say a conservative "thicker" shirt? or better yet a polo shirt. Show it to her, so at least she'll know that there are stuffs there that passes her quality control :-)

Speaking of overpriced, if not on sale polo shirts @ aeropostale costs about $25 , why not try other brands like gap? or with $5 to $10 more get a DKNY,Tommy or RL shirts?

Convince her that ambercombie is bad and that hollister is the good version. I use to tell myself that places like Kohls was better too. Turns out that Kohls isnt as good as what I thought. Their clothes shrink faster anyway. (cheaper clothes, cheaper material) Just do it in moderation. Start by going to the sale section usually in the back of the store. My favorite store is American Eagle and I love their clothes and they last. Try to compromise and shop at both. Also ask for gift cards for there for Christmas and your b-day. Just talk to her and maybe she will understand. Hope it works out.

wow. you should just talk to ur mom about it. hollister stuff in my opinion is actually sorta expensiveish but u could always get the stuff on sale. i ♥ areopostale and the stuff isn't even expensive. just go when they have sales b/c aero is actually rlly cheap. you should just tell ur mom wut u think b/c wel.. shes ur mom but i get how u feel b/c i tend to not tell people things b/c i dnt want to hurt their feelings or things liek that wen inside im like OMG!! but u should just tell her wha tu want. plus, wal-mart stuff is sometimes liek the same price as aero stuff. you really shouldn't care about what people think. just let it go because everybody has their own opinions to different topics. u dnt have to be like other people. and as for your grandma, you could jsut try to persuade her to go into the stores or u could go shoppign w/ some friends that you know your mom trusts you with or ur sister

I think if you go to kohls or target the clothes cost the same. but at Hollister they last longer and are worth how much they cost.

Tell mom that you appreciate her position, but if she's not buying and you are you should do what you want with your money... I'm sure if you go to the sale rack (at least at first or buy one from there and one full priced) she may give in a bit....

I'm a young 20 something and I think some of their stuff is too racy for young people. So I don't entirely blame your mom. Visit www.breezybeachwear.com with her and check out their apparel items. Their tops are the same beach-girl look and they cost a bit less. :)
