My husband and I are getting pregnant in February, and I'll be checking my LH levels, taking temerature and whatnot. I'm sure I ovulate 14 days after my first day, (checking my secretions) but a cycle is considered first day bleeding through next first day, correct? Thanks.

This is my standard answer......... go get a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler
This book will help you with all of your menstrual and conception questions. It’s for all women - not just women trying to conceive. It covers everything from temperature to mucus checking, etc.. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! It tells you how to figure out your cycle and what to expect. My husband and I tried for a year to conceive and nothing happened. The first month I used the book we conceived right away. Now I am due Feb 2. It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths!

Yes your cycle begins with the first day of bleeding and ends the day before your next period begins. You usually ovulate 14 days BEFORE your next period not 14 days after a period starts. And then if you have sex on the day you ovulate you have about a one in four chance of a fertilized egg implanting and growing into a pregnancy. I say this because you mentioned that you were "getting pregnant" in February, and I just wanted to mention that even with normal fertility, you have about 1/4 chance of pregnancy each month you try, so if you don't get pregnant in February, it doesn't mean that you are charting wrong. best wishes!

Day one is the first day you begin to bleed and you count from that day 14 days for ovulation. So if you start bleeding on the 1st of the month you will begin ovulation on the 14th.

14 days after the first day of your period is the day you are considered to be ovulating, so fourteen days after you come on....
So if you come on on the 1st on the 14th you are usually considered to be ovulating,

Hope this helps and hope you get pregnant, good luck x

you count the first day of bleeding as Day One.

And the last day of your cycle is the day BEFORE you start bleeding again.
