I also have endo and agree it is not pleasant. As far as alternative~ What helps me: warm baths, yoga, deep breathing, heating pad, walking is great too. If you are a meat eater, try to go organic. Make sure you are getting plenty of fruits and veggies and water. Silk soy milk is what I use rather than dairy milk, for cereal and recipes. Try to stay away from soda, maybe switch to tea.
Hope that helps

Hi Kerry ,
I too have endo and I know how it makes life miserable, pain so bad you physically throw up and all the other symptoms.
I have had this for 20 years and the only way I managed to reduce it was to eliminate animal products. Especially dairy and red meat.
I tried eliminating them for other reasons once and the side effects was no more endo after a couple of months.
It may be coincidence but I have since heard of others who have tried it and had success. Some practitioners are now recommending it.
I would recommend writing a list of lunches and dinners you can have before starting as it can be hard to adjust at first but you soon get used to it and it is so worth it.
Vanilla rice milk is a good alternative, not so bland as plain rice milk. Soya has the same bad effect on me.
I wasn't able to work for 5 years as I had too much sick time and kept geting sacked.
email me for some moral support if you need it - good luck, you are not alone!

Hysterectomy is not a cure for Endometriosis. Your use of Mirena and Prostap indicates that you are in the United Kingdom; is it possible to see a specialist there? Someone who can truly surgically excise the disease? That might be your best bet. Check with the National Endo Society for references; http://www.endo.org.uk...they might be able to help. Good luck.

Leuprolide acetate for the palliative treatment of endometriosis in women 18 years of age and older is considered medically appropriate if all of the following criteria are met:
Therapy continues uninterrupted for 6 months; and
Therapy is recommended to begin with the first day of the menstrual cycle after pregnancy has been ruled out; and
Re-treatment is not recommended; however if re-treatment is contemplated, bone density should be assessed prior to beginning treatment to verify that values are not below the normal range.
Leuprolide acetate is a synthetic nonapeptide analog of naturally occurring gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH or LH-RH) that, when given continuously, inhibits pituitary gonadotropin secretion and suppresses testicular and ovarian steroidogenesis. The analog possesses greater potency than the natural hormone.
Examples of a preparation of leuprolide acetate are Lupron®, Lupron Depot®, Lupron Depot-Ped®, Lupron Depot® - 3 Month, Lupron Depot® - 4 Month, Eligard®, and Viadur®.

Ask your doctor about having a D & C. I have the same thing and am 25 years old I had the procedure done about a month ago and I have been feeling really good, I havent had the hysterectomy yet. This is the less abrasive surgery and it seems to be working. Talk to your doctor about it and see what they have to say.

the mirena coil is not all that bad, but the choice is yours. Sounds like you have been dealing with a doctor, and if that doctor has no other options suggest you get a second and even a third opinion. No doctor knows it all.

Ask your doctor about androgenic preparations (such as Danazol) which are sometimes used in the treatment of endometriosis, but be aware that these drugs, although they might work, have a long list of containdications.

You have to go to the doctor and tell him you want it scraped off. If you don't get that done you will definitely have to have a hysterectomy because you will get very sick.
