Praise and Worship music it takes the focus off yourself and on to God and it gives you a good feeling inside and it makes a difference in your life

I think people are confusing “uplifting” with just anything they like. I love The Who, they aren't uplifting. Although I like all sorts of music, for up lifting I would have to agree with people who are saying the old hymns, especially in Baptist churches. Just piano, maybe organ and the congregation.
Simple is best, so many churches now a day want to try and induce some sort of frenzy with their music, it’s just not real.

OK, the serious answer: The music from the musical "LES MISERABLES" is the most uplifting music I've ever heard.
Sorry but church music (IE: hymns and contemp.christian music has always just bore me with the same message. Just variations on a theme.

For feel-good, uplifting music, I'll have to go with the true soul gospel of Robert Randolph & The Blind Boys of Alabama. INCREDIBLE!

Indie music is seriously the best. It's not generic pop music that seems to be recycled lyrics. There are beautiful metaphors and references to feelings.
I can put on Spoon - I summon you and be in the best mood. Same with Postal Service- Such great heights.
Give it a chance. It's wonderful.

I love Christian music that are old hymns turned new again. They get you down deep because of the old lyrics. When you really listen to the lyrics of like Come Thou Fount, you get an idea of what life is truly about. These songs touch me the most when i'm in church worshipping or by myself listening to the radio/iPod/cd.

the best type of uplifiting music to me is gospel music what i like about it is now matter how im feeling for the moment and im really down or mad about something it lets me know that God is in control of my situation and he is always with me. It keeps me spiritually in check and he is greater than my problems he is in control and it makes me feel soo free and uplifted and like im on top of the world

Gospel. It's message is so powerful and it is the only music that has ever made me cry. It probably touches me best when I am feeling down, or alone. It is truly awesome.
